Castelmonforte
The castle is reached from the Cathedral square by following a steep and narrow road which takes one past two Roman churches: San Bartolo and San Giorgio. The castle was built by Niccolò Monforte in 1549. The massive turreted and crenellated building offers wonderful views of the surrounding area and the Appennine mountains. Today the castle houses a memorial to those who lost their lives in the 1915-1918 war
